Our Optical Tool Box and Custom Fiber Optic Assemblies
XSOF™ has always been and continues to be a company that is constantly innovating and problem solving. The result of our decades of experience is a Toolbox full of solutions using fiber optics. When we collaborate with your team in a joint effort, we can shorten development time and cost.
Employing many standard connectors and end fittings, XSOF™ builds assemblies that are customized to fit your specific requirements. Our products are built-to-order, based on the design needed for your application. We are open to collaboration with your team early in the design process to determine the best outcome for your needs. With our expertise, we offer a wide range of different options for your assemblies. Read on to learn about just some of the different ways we can customize your fiber optic products.
Square Fibers, PM Fiber Alignment, MidIR Materials, and Hollow Waveguides
We couldn’t be a specialty optical fiber company if we turned our back on the unique properties of Square Fibers! These specialty fibers can create more of a Lambertian distribution or “Top Hat” distribution on the output of multimode fibers. One way to look at them is that they serve, in part, to “mix the modes.” While many know the functionality, the trick to making useful devices is having the ability to terminate these specialty fibers, and that is our forte’. We also have the ability to visualize and thereby rotate and align the orientation of the PM axis relative to a connector key or other datum using PM fibers, and we have been doing that for years. Finally, Fluoride Glasses, Chalcogenides, and even Hollow Waveguides are extending the usefulness of fibers into wavelength regimes and power levels that silica fibers can’t reach. XSOF™ has the experience of making real-world devices, so that our customers don’t have to suffer through the learning curve!
Fused Splitters & Combiners
Small fiber count fused components can be excellent for combiners or splitters or just when trying to increase efficiencies. They can also be very useful in high-temperature or high-power applications where organics as bonding agents are unacceptable. Additionally, where physical contact combiners or splitters create problems from reflective surfaces shedding too much energy, we can eliminate that by fusing the combiner or splitter.
